It’s rein-ing Christmas campaigns and we’re presenting you with some crackers

A third of people in the UK see the release of a Christmas TV advert as an event and look forward to it each year.

Tis the season to be… obsessed with TV ads.

Tis the season to be… obsessed with TV ads.

A whopping 70% of people say they are the ultimate festive mood booster.

Also, a Christmas campaign isn’t just for Christmas; research shows it has lasting positive effects on a brand for the next year.

With new festive adverts landing quicker than Santa down a chimney, it’s the time of year when we judge them all…

JD Sports – Bag for Life

Kicking off with the mother of all sports brands. The Christmas advert features Kano and Cat Burns, with 14 famous faces making cameos. Centred around their iconic JD bag for life, many commended this as being ‘relatable’ and ‘celebrating youth culture’. JD commented that the ad ‘is a dynamic love letter to culture and the bag that carries it forward. Rooted in authentic, relatable, real-life scenarios.’

John Lewis – Snapper

The OG of all festive vibes and Christmas adverts, John LewisCreated by the infamous agency Saatchi & Saatchi and music by Andrea Bocelli, the Christmas avert is claimed to be all about embracing new traditions even if they are a little out there, with the director of John Lewis saying, ‘Many of us have our unique festive traditions and that makes them even more special.’

Asda – Michael Bublé

They’ve only gone and booked Mr Christmas himself, Michael Bublé himself. Creating by another big player in the advertising agency world, Havas, this Christmas advert showcases Bublé as their CQO – Chief Quality Officer. His character was meant to create a Ken-like persona, channelling the Barbie comedy style. The feedback on this Christmas advert has been mixed, with many saying the ad feels ‘flat’.

Capital One – Holiday Night Fever

Not a brand typically known for its Christmas adverts, Capital One has busted onto the festive scene with its advert. Featuring John Travolta as ‘Disco Santa’ and the iconic sounds of the Bee Gees, it plays a homage to the Saturday Night Fever film. Perfectly capturing nostalgia, the ad has been said to ‘stand out’ in a very crowded market.
